Edmonton takes on the Stampeders on Monday September 5

EDMONTON - The Edmonton Elks announced Saturday the signing of American Jeff Richards (DB).

Richards broke into the CFL in 2015, playing two seasons (2015-2016) with the Ottawa Redblacks, where he appeared in 13 games, totalling 22 tackles and helping Ottawa win the 104th Grey Cup in 2016. The 31-year-old defensive back spent the 2021 season with the Toronto Argonauts, recording 42 tackles and one interception in 13 games. Richards was released by Toronto ahead of training camp.

The Oklahoma native also had a two year stint in the NFL, spending time with the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 

The Elks return to action on Monday, September 5, when they take on the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. MDT.
