Sonnier added to active roster in advance of game in Montreal

EDMONTON - The Edmonton Elks signed American defensive back Malik Sonnier and Canadian offensive lineman Jaylan Guthrie on Tuesday in advance of their Week 6 matchup with the Montreal Alouettes at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium on Thursday.

Sonnier joins the active roster. The first-year pro returns to the Elks after being released on June 27. He played one game with the Elks, registering three defensive tackles in Edmonton's season-opening loss to the B.C. Lions.

Guthrie joins the practice roster. A fourth-round draft pick of the Calgary Stampeders in 2019, Guthrie has dressed for two games with one start in his CFL career, as a member of the Ottawa RedBlacks last season.

The Elks practice at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium on Tuesday from 11:25 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. before departing for Montreal on Wednesday.
