EDMONTON – For the first time since the 2023 season, the Edmonton Elks will officially open the upper bowl to the general public.
With ticket sales for the Elks Saturday, Aug. 1 matchup against the Saskatchewan Roughriders already exceeding the 26,000 mark as of 9:00 am on Friday — and averaging roughly 1,900 tickets sold per day this week — the club has decided to open up select upper bowl sections on the East side of the stadium.
The club began the morning with an exclusive relocation window for former upper bowl Elks Season Seat Members beginning at 9:00 am, and will open up three sections (S2 - U2) for the general public beginning at noon today.
Members of the media are invited to Play Alberta Field at Commonwealth Stadium after Friday morning's walkthrough to speak with Elks President and CEO Chris Morris about the decision.
The Play Alberta Field at Commonwealth Stadium upper bowl was originally closed for the 2024 season to enhance the gameday experience and bring fans closer to the action. Last season's home matchup against the Roughriders saw the Elks eclipse 30,053, with Saturday's attendance on pace to exceed that total.
The Elks Saturday, Aug. 1 matchup against the Roughriders (5:00 pm kickoff) is also the team's Purolator Tackle Hunger night, where CFL clubs and their fans raise money and resources for local food banks.
