Week of events planned before Edmonton's 2024 home opener on Saturday, June 8 vs. Saskatchewan

EDMONTON — This week promises to be a busy one for the Edmonton Elks, who are celebrating the Club's 75th season with a host of events beginning Monday, June 3.

Below is a list of all Kickoff to 75 Week events with media availabilities. These events are in addition to the team's regular practice availabilities at Commonwealth Stadium.

The week's events culminate with Edmonton's 75th season home opener on Saturday, June 8 vs. the Saskatchewan Roughriders.


KICKOFF TO 75 WEEK MEDIA EVENTS

Monday, June 3 ​ - Commonwealth Stadium 45th anniversary improvements

  • WHO:
    • Rick LeLacheur - President and CEO, Edmonton Elks
    • Heather Seutter - Director, Commonwealth Stadium
  • WHAT: Media availability and tour of Commonwealth Stadium enhancements
  • WHERE: Commonwealth Stadium (Canadian Club Rooftop Patio)
    • NOTE: Media can park in LOT B at Commonwealth Stadium and enter through gate 2. Head to the south end of the concourse.
  • WHEN: 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday, June 4 - Kickoff in the Square

  • WHO:
    • Rick LeLacheur - President and CEO, Edmonton Elks
    • Tom Richards - Chair, Edmonton Football Club Board of Directors
    • Rod Connop - President, EE Alumni Association
    • Bill Smith - Former Mayor of Edmonton and 1956 Grey Cup champion
    • Anne Stevenson - Deputy Mayor of Edmonton and Councillor for O-day’min
  • WHAT: Proclamation ceremony and fan activation
    • Official proclamation, followed by cheer team performance, mascots, food trucks, and outdoor fan games
  • WHERE: Sir Winston Churchill Square
  • WHEN: Proclamation and media availability at 11:00 a.m.
    • Full event from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Wednesday, June 5 - Elks third jersey unveil

  • WHO:
    • Elks players Nyles Morgan (LB) and McLeod Bethel-Thompson (QB)
    • Evan Daum - VP of Marketing and Fan Engagement, Edmonton Elks
    • EE Alumni
  • WHAT: Unveiling of the Elks' new third jersey
  • WHERE: Canadian Icehouse (patio) - 10332 103 St. NW
    • NOTE: Parking available in Ice District Central Parkade directly underneath Canadian Icehouse (access off 103 ave.)
  • WHEN: Official jersey unveiling at approximately 6:00 p.m.
    • Full event from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Friday, June 7 - Legends Club unveiling and EE Alumni media availability

  • WHO:
    • Rick LeLacheur - President and CEO, Edmonton Elks
    • Rod Connop - President, EE Alumni Association
    • Additional EE Alumni, including:
      • Michael Reilly, Warren Moon, Ricky Ray, Brian Kelly, Henry 'Gizmo' Williams and others
  • WHAT: Unveiling of the Legends Club (renovated and rebranded season seat holder lounge) at Commonwealth Stadium and media availability with EE Alumni
  • WHERE: Legends Club (Commonwealth Stadium)
    • NOTE: Media are asked to meet at the Elks Team Store inside the Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre beginning at 10:00 a.m.
  • WHEN: 10:30 a.m. ribbon cutting ceremony
    • Media availability to follow

Saturday, June 8 - Elks home opener presented by Purolator Tackle Hunger

  • WHO:
    • Chris Jones - Head Coach and General Manager, Edmonton Elks
    • Elks players
  • WHAT: Elks vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders (75th season home opener)
    • Football media availability to follow immediately post-game
  • WHERE: Commonwealth Stadium
  • WHEN: 5 p.m. kickoff
