Elks set to open 2021 training camp

Green and Gold’s first practice scheduled for July 11

EDMONTON — The wait is almost over, as the Edmonton Elks open their 2021 training camp this weekend at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium.

Training camp officially opens on Saturday, July 10 with team meetings, while the Elks hit the field for the first time on Sunday, July 11. Elks General Manager and VP of Football Operations Brock Sunderland and Head Coach Jaime Elizondo will address the media on Friday, July 9 via Zoom at 11:00 a.m.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, training camp sessions will be closed to the public, while media will be permitted to watch practice at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium beginning on Sunday, July 11 (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.).

As per CFL protocols, all media availabilities will be conducted virtually during the first week of camp. Elks training camp media availabilities will shift to in-person beginning Saturday, July 17.

A complete training camp roster will be circulated ahead of Sunday’s first practice.

NOTES:

  • Schedule subject to change.
  • Media will be permitted to watch training camp from E0 (suite), or section Z (stands).
    • Media parking is available in LOT A (west side of stadium)
    • Enter The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium through GATE 7 (NW corner) beginning 15 minutes prior to practice commencing.
    • Media are required to leave the stadium within 15 minutes of media availabilities completing.
  • Practice footage can be shot from anywhere in section Z during warm-up (approximately 10:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.) and individual drills.
  • Media will be asked for interview requests daily via email.
  • All in-person media availabilities will be conducted outdoors at field level and will require media to be socially distanced and wearing masks.
  • In the event that weather impacts an in-person media availability, interviews will be conducted via Zoom.
